Culture Northwest works to build citizenship through culture.

We have established a strong programme of work in this area including:

  • Britainover 50– a partnership think tank with 50:50 Vision challenging perceptions of Britain’s aging population
  • Culture Seminar for Elected Members – Culture Northwest held the regions first culture seminar to engage Elected Members from the whole of the Northwest in cultural policy, practice and activity
  • Local Authorities– Culture Northwest has worked in partnership with Local Authorities on Regional Commentaries and Local Area Agreements to advocate and provide for sustained cultural activity and investment
  • Northwest Forum of Faiths Inauguration in Preston - a partnership with the North West Forum of Faiths and NWDA (20.01.06)
  • From the Wings: An inquiry into the role of sports and creative activities in tackling social exclusion - the Whitbread Trust inspired enquiry proactively supported by Culture Northwest (launched 03.02.06)
  • Star Turn to Bolton Lads and Girls Club - who engage with young people ages 5-21 and involve them in a range of activities including sports, to help them realise their potential, develop confidence and understand the role of the responsible citizen (26.05.04)
