Culture Northwest maximises cultural contributions to life-long learning.

 We continue to deliver events and programmes in this area including:

  • THINK - now in its third year, this innovative partnership with the University of Liverpool promotes the inaugural lectures delivered by Professors recently appointed to Endowed Chairs in the University. Topics this year range from animals and culture in the Middle Ages, tradition and modernity in Japanese architecture and even include Professor Elizabeth Ettorre's journey through 'good time' sociology
  • CLORE Leadership Programme - working alongside NWDA, and the NESTA Cultural Leadership Programme to develop Northwest Leaders of the Future 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008
  • CRESC / COIN - the Northwest Culture Observatory Intelligence Network (COIN), the Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) and the University of Manchester jointly convened research seminar programme
  • Café RSA – an innovative partnership with the RSA and the University of Manchester to develop a forum for informal debate and discussion
  • European Youth Parliament – a partnership to support the 58th annual European Youth Parliament in Liverpool during European Capital of Culture Year 2008
  • Northern Lights - a conference in partnership with MLA North West, highlighting 6 significant case studies for the region (November 2004)
  • The Contribution of Higher Education to Cultural Life in the North West- a new approach to understanding and engaging with the cultural assets within our 15 Universities

Case Studies


Since June 2007 Culture Northwest has supported the administration of a new Women Leaders in Museums Network, a group of 25 women from across the UK working in very senior roles in the museums and galleries sector. [+]
