Partnerships
Culture Northwest is the voice for culture in the region. As an advocate, we promote the role of culture, as a strategic body we push the boundaries of current thinking and as a network, we bring people together to maximise the role that culture plays in the northwest.
In particular we encourage cross-sector connections and foster regional support for key sub-regional initiatives:
- Liverpool 08 - European Capital of Culture including sub-regional initiatives:
- Cheshire Year of Gardens 08- a year long celebration of the rich heritage of gardens in Cheshire
- Taste Lancashire 08 - a year-long programme celebrating Lancashire's famous food culture
- Cumbria's 2008 Year of Adventure - set in the country's best adventure playground
- Manchester World Sport 2008- the single biggest year of world sport in Manchester since the XVII Commonwealth Games
- Manchester International Festival - the world's first international festival of original, new work
- Lever Prize– a unique partnership between Culture Northwest, the Northwest Business Leadership Team and Arts and Business North West now in its third year.
- Colour of Money Think Tank – building partnerships with the commercial sector
- Cultivate and Culture Cumbria – Culture Northwest supports sub-regional alignment with cultural partners
- Heritage Clusters- a pilot Heritage Attraction Cluster in Lancashire, followed by a roll-out across the Northwest.
Case Studies
Throughout 2008 each of the North West’s sub-regions will showcase their cultural distinctiveness with a year of themed events to coincide with and support Liverpool being the European Capital of Culture 2008.
