Northwest on the Move
North West on the Move is the name of the North West Plan for Sport & Physical Activity.
It is also the name of the network of partners and stakeholders involved in the implementation of the plan, including County Sports Partnerships, Local Sports & Physical Activity Alliances, National Governing Bodies of Sport and key sporting and non- sporting organisations from across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Culture Northwest and Sport England North West joined together and developed an innovative partnership post to action North West on the Move – our Sports Network Manager facilitates the development of the North West on the Move programme and together with Sport England aims to:
1. An increase in participation in Sport & Physical Activity across the region
2. Widening of access and reduction of inequality in participation amongst priority groups
The goal is to achieve a 1% increase in participation year on
year until 2008.
At a regional level the work of the North West Sports Board is supported by 5 Themed Implementation Groups:
- Enhancing The Sporting Infrastructure
- Improving Health & Well-being
- Developing Education & Skills
- Creating Stronger & Safer Communities
- Benefiting The Economy
Sub-regionally, the partnership approach operates where the5 County Sports Partnerships drive the delivery of Sport & Physical activity in the community through the expanding network of local Sport & Physical Activity Alliances.
